As a designer long engaged with sustainability and its challenges, I see the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and its instrument — the Digital Product Passport (DPP) — as potentially transformative for product development.

Coming from a design background rather than a regulatory one, I am interested in understanding how these emerging frameworks may reshape design practice. My research explores questions such as: How might the DPP influence design decisions? Could access to evolving information on materials, repairability, and supply chains support more circular ways of designing? And how might designers navigate increasing complexity in product development?
